Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine

We train residents to be competent internists who are prepared for outpatient primary care practice, hospitalist medicine practice, or fellowship. Our residents are trained to be excellent medical educators and are provided opportunities to achieve excellence in scholarship. This program fosters a learning environment that promotes personal and professional wellness.

To prepare competent and compassionate internists who provide high-quality care to diverse patient populations and actively engage in lifelong learning.

Program Curriculum

The program consists of 36 months of training in internal medicine leading to ABIM board eligibility. Ambulatory care accounts for approximately 33% of the overall training. Rotations are scheduled in a 4+2 model, in which residents alternate between four-week inpatient blocks and two-week ambulatory blocks.

Virtual Visits

Our residents have guided our efforts to present our philosophy of education to you. We have always been told that the in-person visit “seals the deal” and we are hopeful that the “virtual visit” will accomplish the same goal this year.
