  • I chose this program...

because I loved getting to see the residents interact and help each other. I enjoyed the option of a child and adolescent fellowship. I appreciated the acuity of our hospital and the volume of patients that we get to see.

  • What do you get/benefit from by choosing this program over another, similar program?

I feel that the teamwork and collaboration are phenomenal. I know I can ask a question to any of my colleagues or attendings and get help. I feel our staff and providers are approachable. There is room for independent learning and moonlighting which helps us gain confidence prior to finishing residency.

  • What has surprised you about the Psychiatry program?

The volume of patients that we see. I have had numerous instances of great learning cases which helps me feel more prepared for life as an attending.

  • What's the best perk of this program?

The co-residents and ability to collaborate.

  • What do you know now that you wish you did prior to matching with this program?

That a whole month is dedicated to the transition from medical school to inpatient psychiatry. There is no need to stress about medications or how to take an H&P. Your co-residents will be there to help you out!
