Application Requirements

Applications to our residency program are only accepted through ResidencyCAS until December 1st.
We are using signals and will follow the CORD guidelines for signal use. Applicants will have 5 signals and should NOT signal their home institution or where they did an EM rotation.

Applications require:
• Dean’s letter
• Medical school transcript
• Photo
• 1 eSLOE
• Personal statement
• USMLE transcript or COMLEX transcript
• Fewer than four years since graduation from medical school is required

Candidate must be able to be eligible for a resident license in the state of South Dakota

Additional Requirements for International Medical Graduates

(Including U.S. or Canadian citizens who are graduates of a foreign medical school.)

The program sponsors J-1 and H-1B visas. H-1B visas will be sponsored if you are transferring existing H-1B status that negates the current $100,000 fee.

·        Candidates must be ECFMG certified by February 1

·        To be considered for an H-1B visa, candidates must have documentation through ResidencyCAS of a passing score on USMLE Step 3 on file by February 1st (“will take”, or “score pending” cannot be recognized as a passing score).

Interviews will be extended through ResidencyCAS for the 2026-2027 application cycle and scheduled on selected dates from October through December.

Our program will use VIRTUAL INTERVIEW format only. Our program will allow 72 hours for applicants to accept or decline interview offers.
