Application Requirements

Application Requirements/Criteria

Our program will use VIRTUAL INTERVIEW format only, and will participate in the Unified Interview Release Date (estimated October 16) 8 PM (EST). Our program will allow 72 hours for applicants to accept or decline interview offers.

We are using signals and will follow the CORD guidelines for signal use. Applicants will have 5 signals and should NOT signal their home institution or where they did an EM rotation.

Second Look events will occur in early to mid-February 2026 and information will arrive via e-mail at a later date.

Applications to our residency program are only accepted through ResidencyCAS.

Our selection process is based upon multiple factors, including general academic performance, clinical performance, Standardized Letters of Evaluation (SLOE), personal qualities and achievements.

Applications require:

·         Dean’s letter

·         Medical school transcript

·         Photo

·         SLOE

·         Personal statement

·         USMLE transcript or COMLEX transcript

Candidate must be able to be eligible for a resident license in the state of South Dakota

Additional Requirements for International Medical Graduates

(Including U.S. or Canadian citizens who are graduates of a foreign medical school.)

The program sponsors J-1 and H-1B visas
To be considered for an H-1B visa, candidates must have documentation through ERAS of a passing score on USMLE Step 3 on file by match day (“will take”, or “score pending” cannot be recognized as a passing score)

Interview Information/Process

Interviews will be extended through ResidencyCAS for the 2025-2026 application cycle.
